Jiaoxi Nightlife
Steam over Tangweigou, hot-spring inns and late-night eats — the tourist's Yilan night starts in the water. Jiaoxi runs on steam. From dusk, the hot-spring street glows — private baths, inn pools, free foot soaks along Tangweigou — and between soaks the night fills with foot massage and late-night food. It is the most tourist-forward corner of Yilan, and the one place in the county where midnight still feels open.

FAQ
N-01How does a Jiaoxi night work?
Soak first, eat after. Take a private bath or inn spring at dusk, stroll Deyang and Jiaoxi roads afterward, dip in the free foot baths at Tangweigou, then close with late-night food and a foot massage — Jiaoxi alternates steam and snacks all evening.
N-02How late do the hot-spring shops stay open?
Most private baths and public pools run to 11 pm or midnight, foot-massage shops often to 1-2 am, with late-night stalls and convenience stores going later. This is one of the few streets in Yilan still lit after midnight.
N-03What is the best way from Taipei?
Intercity bus through the Hsuehshan Tunnel is fastest — about 60-80 minutes from Taipei Main or City Hall terminals straight to Jiaoxi. TRA Jiaoxi Station suits arrivals from Yilan City or Luodong. Both stations are a walk from the hot-spring street.
N-04What budget for a night in Jiaoxi?
A private bath for two runs NT$400-800 per hour, foot soaks free; foot massage about NT$600-900 per hour; late-night eats around NT$200 a head. Excluding lodging, NT$1,500 makes a very full evening.
N-05Is Jiaoxi good on rainy days?
The best. Soaking is indoors by nature, and rain on the bath roof only adds to it; the covered foot-soak zones at Tangweigou stay open, and massage and food are all inside. In Yilan's rainy season, Jiaoxi plays along with the weather.
N-06Is it safe late at night?
The hot-spring street is a tourist hub — lights and foot traffic hold steady to midnight, and it stays uncomplicated. Hotel side-lanes dim late; walk Deyang or Jiaoxi roads if alone, and taxis are easy near the bus terminal.
